The Oil Chemist led by Shyam Steel has consistently supported and participated in a range of activities to promote social development with positive impacts on society, the economy, and the environment. In these Initiatives, significant emphasis is placed on addressing critical issues such as education, poverty, gender equality, hunger, and environmental concerns.

Sanitary Pad Distribution

Even after six decades since India’s independence, menstrual health and hygiene remain a major issue in the country. Society still holds on to taboos surrounding this natural biological process experienced by women. Many girls lack knowledge about sanitary pads or napkins and resort to unhygienic methods during their menstruation cycle. This can lead to serious health hazards. This can result in adolescent girls dropping out of school or facing physical problems in the future. To break the cycle of silence surrounding menstruation, The Oil Chemist led by Shyam Steel took the initiative to distribute free sanitary pads to women in the Bankdaha village of Bankura district, West Bengal. The program was held at the ground in front of Bankdaha Primary School and was attended by several women. This noble effort aimed to raise awareness about menstrual health and hygiene and provide women with access to essential sanitary products.

To maintain the cleanliness of Kolkata, the brand has taken the initiative to install multiple waste bins on most of the footpaths in and around Salt Lake, making its modest contribution towards beautifying the city.
